• Job Purpose/Summary:

  The Specialist – Marine and Logistics supports the Head – Marine Operations & Logistics in overseeing and managing the day-to-day marine and logistics operations for Bapco Upstream, to ensure that they are efficient, timely, and meet the required standards. The jobholder is also responsible to ensure that the LNG carriers and marine services provided are abiding to safety compliance and navigation laws within Bahrain Waters.

   

• Job Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:

  Coordinates for vessel operations, including berthing, mooring, and cargo transfer activities with marine service providers in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  Liaises with vessel operators, towing services, port authorities, and pilots to plan and execute vessel movements, taking into consideration weather conditions, tidal restrictions, and safety protocols.
  Ensures compliance with international maritime regulations, local port regulations, and industry best practices related to LNG terminal operations.
  Implements and enforce safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and environmental protection measures for operations at the terminal.
  Serves as a point of contact for vessel operators, pilots, port authorities, and regulatory agencies.
  Responds to incidents or emergencies, such as spills, accidents, or vessel malfunctions, by coordinating and implementing appropriate response actions.
  Conducts incident investigations, prepare incident reports, and implement corrective and preventive measures to mitigate future incidents.
  Develops and executes a plan to enhance, optimize and improve the service standards while ensuring to minimize the operating costs.
  Provides reports on logistical processes and operations, performs analysis and identifies improvement opportunities to enhance effectiveness.
  Performs any other duties assigned by the Head – Marine Operations & Logistics.

   

• Communications and Working Relationships (Responsibility for contacts and Supervision Establishes and maintains direct and periodic communication with a variety of key stakeholders, e.g., Supply Chain, Gas Distribution Operations, Gas Planning & Sales, Senior Leadership to ensure LNG terminal and logistic operations are aligned with the Company’s strategic objectives. Liaises regularly with external stakeholders and relevant authorities to stay updated on current business and industry requirements as well as develop mutually beneficial partnerships, e.g., Bahrain LNG, LNGC masters, Marine Service Providers, other government agencies etc.

• Framework Boundaries, Decision Making authority and Responsibility.

The jobholder must report to the Head – Marine Operations & Logistics and is held accountable for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the performance of marine and logistics operations, and to provide recommendations for improvement. The jobholder is accountable for ensuring the effectiveness of marine vessels, while minimizing risks, costs, and environmental impacts.

• Qualifications:

Education:

Valid certification as a ship officer (Master Mariner, Chief Officer, or equivalent) with relevant sea-time experience.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of working experience in marine and logistics operations.

Basic knowledge of international maritime regulations.

Skills:

Basic understanding of vessel navigation, ship handling, and cargo transfer operations

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
